Gabrielle Savary
Born into a family of musicians in Basel, Gabrielle Savary enjoyed all the advantages of growing up in a rich artistic environment. At an early age, she started to play the cello, which she chose to study professionally later on and got to know the ins and outs of Europe’s broad cultural landscape through her father Pascal Savary (1st violin tutti Sinfonieorchester Basel), her uncle Yves Savary (1st cello solo at the Bayerische Staatsoper) and the luthier and her godfather Philippe Girardin (currently Atelier Girardin & Petermann & Fortin), who also gave her valuable insights into the world of violin making.
After attaining her bachelor’s degree in Lugano in the class of Prof. Monika Leskovar, she decided to go to Munich to continue her private studies with Yves Savary and Hanno Simmons (2nd chair cello at the Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks München). Finally, she completed her studies in the class of Prof. David Pia (1st chair Berner Sinfonie Orchester), who took her on as a master student at the Haute-École de Musique Genève. In addition, Gabrielle benefitted from numerous masterclasses and lessons from prestigious personalities, such as Bruno Weinmeister, Wen-Sinn Yang, Reinhard Latzko, Maximilian Hornung, Thomas Grossenbacher, Sebastian Klinger, and more.
Since then, she has cultivated a vast international network of musicians and other artists. She was able to enrich said network in her position in the administration of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. After one year in Gstaad, she started to work for the Maggini Foundation, where, at the age of 28, she got elected new CEO by the Maggini Foundation’s board and new CEO by the Segelman Trust Trustees from London, in June of 2022. Exactly one year later, in June 2023, she brought the Foundation and the Segelman Trust GmbH to Basel.
Gabrielle Savary speaks fluent German, French, English and Italian and lives in Basel with her Belgian Shepherd Dog, Épice.
