Two wonderful violins from the Segelman Trust collection were at the Atelier Girardin, Fortin & Petermann in Neuchâtel for major work over the summer and are now back in the Foundation. We are very excited about the sound result of the violin by Gagliano Alessandro, Napoli, 1720 and an old Italian composite violin.
In June 2022, Simon Wernly hands over the entire management of the Maggini Foundation, as well as the Segelman Trust GmbH, to Gabrielle Savary. The 28-year-old cellist was elected by all members of the Foundation Board. (28 June 2022)
In the next months Carlos Johnson, 1st concertmaster of the Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lübeck, can be heard as a soloist on several occasions: On Sunday, 11th October 2015 he will play the Alban Berg violin concert with the Lüneburger Symphoniker conducted by Thomas Dorsch. On 20th und 21st December he will prove his virtuosity together with Stanislas Efaev in the «Gran Duo Concertante» for double bass and violin, composed by Giovanni Bottesini. 'His' Hansestadt orchestra will be conducted by Andreas Wolf. Carlos Johnson plays a Ferdinand Gagliano violin, made in Naples in 1785. The instrument is part of the Segelman collection and was provided to him by the Maggini Foundation. (17th August 2015)
Congratulations to Weronika Godlewska who just passed the trial year with the WDR Sinfonieorchester in Cologne. In September 2013 Weronika leased a violin from us, probably a work of Giovanni Pistucci from Naples. With this instrument she won an audition for a position in the 2nd violins and then successfully passed the trial year. After our summer holidays the violin which we provided to her can be tried, compared with other instruments and leased. – Good luck and all the best wishes to Weronika! (8th July 2015)
Our youngest customer, 12 year old Emilia von Albertini, plays on 23rd and 24th April a concert together with the LGT Young Soloists at the Lichtenstein City Palace in Vienna. Last year she won the 1st Prize in the 15th International Valsesia Competition for Juniors in Italy. Congratulations to Dorukhan Doruk who won 2nd Prize and two special awards in the X. Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition in Warsaw! The 24 year old Turkish musician plays an instrument of the Maggini Foundation. Congratulations to Erzhan Kulibaev who just won a Washington Award! The S&R Foundation presents this prize to "talented young artists in the fields of fine arts, music, drama, dance, photography, and film. The award is especially intended to encourage individuals who contribute to international collaboration." The young and ambitious cellist Nikolay Shugaev looks back on a successful year. In the last months he was happy to give concerts in such famous places as Sala Verdi in Milan or Carnegie Weill Hall in New York. As a cellist of Trio Spiegel he will play Ravel's piano trio in Concertgebouw Amsterdam in April 2015. Nikolay is playing a Grancino cello, provided to him by the Maggini Foundation. Congratulations to Aylen Pritchin who just won the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in Paris! The very talented musician plays a violin by Gennaro Gagliano, Naples 1765, provided to him by the Maggini Foundation. (1st December 2014)
